GLP-1 & Weight Loss Injection IV Hydration | Newark & Doncaster
Losing Weight… But Feeling Absolutely Wiped Out?
You started Mounjaro, Wegovy or another GLP-1 weight loss medication because you wanted to lose weight and take control of your health.
Then the nausea kicked in.
Food suddenly sounds awful. You’re picking at meals. Drinking enough feels harder than it should. Maybe you’ve been sick, had diarrhoea or you’re walking around with that dull headache and completely drained feeling that makes even a normal working day feel twice as long.
And sometimes it gets worse just when you thought you’d adjusted, because your dose has gone up.
You’re getting the appetite suppression you expected. You just didn’t expect to feel this rough.
At Holden’s Chemist Express, we offer private IV hydration assessments for suitable patients taking GLP-1 and weight management medication at our clinics in Newark and Doncaster.

Why Can Weight Loss Injections Make You Feel Sick?
There’s a reason medications such as Mounjaro and Wegovy can be so effective at controlling appetite.
They change how your body responds to food and can slow digestion, helping you feel fuller for longer.
But that same process can come with gastrointestinal side effects.
Some patients experience:
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Abdominal discomfort
- Reduced appetite
- Tiredness
And there’s another problem hiding underneath all of that.
When you feel sick, eating and drinking enough can become much harder.
You take a few sips of water and don’t fancy any more. Lunch becomes three bites. The bottle on your desk is still almost full at 4pm.
If vomiting or diarrhoea is involved too, maintaining normal hydration can become even more difficult.
Did It Get Worse After Your Dose Increased?
This is worth discussing with the healthcare professional managing your medication.
Side effects can occur when starting GLP-1 medication and following dose changes.
If symptoms are bothering you or aren’t settling, don’t simply grit your teeth because you think feeling awful is the price you have to pay for losing weight.
Your prescriber or pharmacist can advise you about your medication, while our team can assess whether private hydration support is appropriate for you.
Where Does IV Hydration Fit In?
IV hydration doesn’t replace appropriate management of your GLP-1 medication.
And it isn’t a licence to ignore significant side effects.
For suitable patients, however, intravenous fluids provide a way of administering hydration directly into the bloodstream under professional supervision.
Before anything is administered, our clinical team will assess your health, symptoms, medication and suitability.
If your symptoms suggest that you need medical assessment rather than an IV drip, we’ll tell you.
When Should I Get Medical Help Instead?
Sometimes feeling slightly nauseous is one thing.
Being unable to keep fluids down is another.
You should seek appropriate medical advice if your symptoms are severe, persistent or getting worse.
In particular, symptoms such as repeated vomiting, being unable to keep fluids down, dark urine, significant lightheadedness or severe persistent abdominal pain should not simply be treated as something you need to push through.
IV hydration is not a substitute for urgent medical assessment when serious complications are suspected.
