💚 Travelling Home, Visiting Family — Protect Yourself and Those You Love

For many UK Pakistanis, visiting Pakistan is not just a holiday — it is going home. Whether you are heading back for a family wedding, to see parents or grandparents, or introducing your children to their roots, it is a special trip that matters.

Life in the UK can make it easy to forget that food, water and healthcare standards can be different abroad. Even strong travellers can be caught out by stomach bugs, contaminated water, or a small cut that does not heal properly in the heat.

Getting vaccinated before you travel is not only about avoiding illness, it is about protecting your trip, your comfort, and your loved ones while you are there. One short visit to our clinics in Doncaster or Newark could save days of being unwell on what should be a happy, family-filled journey.

We have helped hundreds of travellers across Doncaster, Bradford, Sheffield, Rotherham and Newark prepare for trips home safely.

💉 Recommended Vaccines for Pakistan

  • Hepatitis A — Food and water protection. Recommended for all travellers.
  • Typhoid — Higher risk with street food, family home cooking and rural travel.
  • Tetanus, Diphtheria & Polio (DTP booster) — Ensure your 10-year booster is up to date.
  • Hepatitis B — Consider for longer stays, close family visits, medical or dental work, or tattoos.
  • Rabies — For extended trips, rural areas, cycling, or potential animal contact (dogs, bats, monkeys).
  • Cholera — Consider for humanitarian work or areas with poor sanitation. Oral vaccine.

ℹ️ Polio remains present in Pakistan. UK travellers should ensure their polio protection is current (included in the DTP booster). For trips over four weeks, some travellers may be asked for proof of recent polio vaccination — check requirements when booking.

🦟 Malaria Risk & Tablets

Malaria risk varies by region and season, with higher risk in some rural and southern areas. We will advise the best option for your itinerary:

  • Antimalarial tablets such as Atovaquone/Proguanil, Doxycycline, or Mefloquine.
  • Use repellent containing DEET or picaridin, cover arms and legs after dusk, and sleep under nets where available.

🍽️ Food, Water & General Health Tips

  • Drink bottled or boiled water only. Avoid ice and unpeeled fruit or salads from street vendors.
  • Carry oral rehydration salts for hot days and long journeys.
  • Keep a small first-aid kit: plasters, antiseptic wipes, pain relief, anti-diarrhoeals.
  • Heat and sun: use SPF 30+, take breaks, and stay hydrated during daytime travel.

🕌 Connecting Pilgrimage or Umrah?

If your trip includes Umrah or Hajj via Saudi Arabia, you will need a valid Meningitis ACWY certificate. We issue same-day certificates at our clinics.
