Travel Vaccinations for the Philippines

Planning a trip to the Philippines – maybe island hopping in Palawan, exploring Cebu, or visiting friends and family in Manila? Alongside flights and hotels, it’s important to make sure you’re protected against food-, water- and mosquito-borne diseases that are more common there than in the UK.

Our Travel Health Clinics in Doncaster (DN5) and Newark (NG24) provide expert advice and private travel vaccinations for the Philippines, with same-day and short-notice appointments available.

📍 Available at both locations:
• Holden’s Chemist Scawsby – Doncaster (DN5)
• Holden’s Chemist Express Newark (NG24)

🩺 Recommended Vaccines for Travel to the Philippines

Exact recommendations depend on where you’re going, what you’ll be doing, and how long you’re staying – but for most travellers we commonly advise:

  • Hepatitis A – protection against food and water contamination (recommended for most visitors).
  • Typhoid – important if you’ll be eating street food, staying with family, or visiting rural areas.
  • DTP Booster – ensures your tetanus, diphtheria and polio protection is up to date.
  • Hepatitis B – for longer trips, frequent visits, medical work, or possible tattoo/piercing.
  • Rabies – strongly considered for backpackers, cyclists, children, animal contact or remote travel.

Depending on your itinerary, we may also discuss Japanese Encephalitis (for extended rural stays) and malaria prevention where appropriate.

🌴 Typical Itineraries We See for the Philippines

  • Island-hopping holidays (Palawan, Boracay, Bohol) – usually Hepatitis A, Typhoid, DTP booster; add Rabies for more adventurous trips.
  • Family visits – higher exposure to local food and water; Hepatitis A and Typhoid are especially important.
  • Backpacking routes across Southeast Asia – often combine the Philippines with Thailand, Vietnam or Malaysia; we can plan vaccines for the whole route.
  • Longer stays / working visits – Hepatitis B and Rabies often recommended.
